HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS (HSIA) Exceed Brand Standards, Future Proof Your Network and Elevate Your Customer Experience! Applicable for hotels in the U.S. and Canada only. Existing and new hotels are required to meet Brand Standard #100.04.01 (High Speed Internet Access Requirements). An HSIA installation / enhancement generally involves the following, but may vary depending on your hotels needs and future plans: On-site or remote survey to review existing infrastructure and future plans / needs. Installation of new HSIA solution. Review of HSIA quotation provided by Wyndham approved supplier. $ Waivers to the approved vendor requirement are granted only under exceptional circumstances such as: 1. Remote Location with Limited Provider Access: If a property is located in a remote area where Wyndham Wi-Fi providers do not offer service, a waiver may be considered. This would require documented evidence of communication with multiple providers confirming their inability to service the location. 2. Historic Building Restrictions: In cases where a property is a designated historic building with structural restrictions preventing the installation of Wyndham Wi-Fi infrastructure, a waiver may be granted. This would require a detailed report from a certified preservation architect. 3. Temporary Network Solutions for Major Renovations: If a property is undergoing major renovations that significantly disrupt existing Wi-Fi infrastructure, a temporary waiver might be approved. This would require a comprehensive renovation plan and timeline, along with a temporary network proposal that meets interim service standards. These examples are rare and require extensive documentation and justification. Adherence to Wyndham Wi-Fi ensures that all properties benefit from centralized support, security, and performance standards that meet our brand's expectations. What is HSIA and Why is it Important? HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS (HSIA) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS The hospitality industry and hoteliers in general have two main goals – deliver incredible guest experiences and optimize business efficiency. Without effective HSIA, your property is unlikely to succeed with either. 8 1 What is HSIA and why is it important? HSIA (High-Speed Internet Access) is not just about providing guest WiFi—it is the foundation of modern hotel operations and guest experiences. A fast, reliable, and secure network ensures that all critical hotel technologies function seamlessly. From check-ins via Opera Cloud and SPH to smart revenue management with RevIQ, VoIP telephony for efficient communication, and an exceptional in-room entertainment experience with the Wyndham TV Platform, every aspect of a hotel’s operation relies on a strong network connection. Additionally, the Wyndham Captive Portal enhance guest engagement, enabling Wyndham Rewards enrollments and creating upsell opportunities for premium services and room upgrades. Poor WiFi connectivity leads to operational inefficiencies, guest frustration, and missed revenue opportunities, making HSIA a top priority for hoteliers looking to stay competitive. 2 What is my brand standard for HSIA? To meet Brand Standard #100.04.01 (High Speed Internet Access Requirements) hotels must provide reliable, hospitality grade Internet access to guests. All NAMER hotels must enter into a written agreement with a Wyndham Hotels & Resorts approved high-speed Internet access (HSIA) provider to meet all the requirements specified in this standard. HSIA must be provided as a complimentary amenity in all areas of the hotel. • Hotels must have a minimum bandwidth of 100Mbps or 3Mbps upload and download bandwidth per available guest room. • At least 3 static IP addresses are required. • ISP must provide connectivity which exceeds 99.5% availability as measured monthly. • Additional specifications, including cost control, for NAMER Hotels are outlined in the Wyndham Wi-Fi Program Guidelines document, which is provided to Wyndham Approved providers. Hotels can contact an approved provider for any additional questions regarding brand standard requirements or for general guidance. 3 What is a HSIA Provider? A HSIA provider (also known as Managed Service Provider (MSP) is a third-party company that remotely manages a customer’s information technology (IT) infrastructure and end-user systems. The goal of a HSIA provider is to help hotels offer their guests a seamless and reliable internet experience which is increasingly important for guest satisfaction and loyalty in today’s digital age. Click here for a complete list of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts approved HSIA providers. 4 How much will it cost to upgrade my hotel’s HSIA? The cost associated with upgrading a hotel’s HSIA network can vary drastically from property to property depending on size, services, existing infrastructure along with current and future needs. Consequently, hotels are required by brand standard to work with a Wyndham Hotels & Resorts approved provider, which can design the optimal network to meet the property’s needs. 5 What type of equipment is needed for my hotel? As per Brand Standard #100.04.01 (High Speed Internet Access Requirements), hotels are required to deploy commerical grade equipment on site, no consumer grade (home) equipment is allowed. Commercial grade equipment usually consists of a gateway / firewall combined with multiple switches and access points arranged throughout the property.

6 What is the benefit of commercial-grade equipment? Commerical grade equipment contains higher hardware parameters such as, additional processing power, larger memory capacity, advanced security, extended Wi-Fi range, increased bandwidth capabilities and most importantly, long-term support and warranty. This equivalates to a larger user capacity and increased reliability to support the ever-increasing demands of today’s hotel environments and guests. 7 What is considered good signal strength in a Wi-Fi network? There are many ways to quantify and measure good signal strength. Brand standards require all guest rooms, meeting rooms and public areas to have a signal strength greater than -65db. There are many factors that can be considered when understanding signal strength or reach. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts approved HSIA providers have design teams and tools that consider building material, wall locations, nearby electronics, metal objects, etc., in the design and installation of these networks. Thus, ensuring quality, efficiency, and reliability in the design of a hotel’s HSIA network. 8 What is a splash page, and do I need one? A splash page (also known as captive portal) is the first thing guests see when they connect to a hotel’s Wi-Fi. Per Brand Standard #100.04.01 (High Speed Internet Access Requirements), hotels must display a landing page including terms and conditions, appropriate identity of your Wyndham Hotels & Resorts hotel Brand and/or approved Wyndham Rewards® related content via approved distribution channels. 9 What is the benefit to having a splash page? A hotel’s splash page is a great ancillary revenue source. This is attained via paid internet speed upgrades and advertising revenue. It also offers guests the ability to sign-up for the Wyndham Rewards® loyalty program which counts toward a hotel’s monthly goal. Largely, this provides guests with a friendly, familiar and streamlined experience across our brands. 10 How do I get in touch with a HSIA provider to begin enhancing my hotel’s HSIA experience? Pro:Idiom™ is a hardware-based highly secure technology platform that provides rapid broad deployment of HD digital content Embedded MPEG Technology to Minimize Cost Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG) is a compression format that allows digital information to take up less space on a device or during transmission. This format compresses digital video and is commonly used to compress HD signals for satellite and hotel systems. Pre-set Hospitality Settings Make for Simple & Easy Installation Through advanced plug-and-play settings, hotel staff can activate hundreds of in-room displays with minimal effort. Operations teams simply have to navigate three basic launch settings to synchronize multiple displays while also defining connectivity and language needs. More importantly, commercial TVs offer lockable features to prevent guests from tampering with the settings. Limited or No Coverage Consumer TVs have limited warranties (i.e. 90 days) that can be voided when a TV is used in a commercial setting. Owner would have to incur full cost of service, negating any savings generated upfront. Potential for Higher Set-Up Cost with Individual Commercial content management solutions cannot be operated with consumer TVs which requires more manual labor and costs to setup each in-room display individually. No built-in encryption means higher costs on external hardware Consumer TVs do not come equipped with encryption technology to protect HD programming. A set-top box would be required with each television which would significantly increase ownership costs. No MPEG-4 Built-In Could Mean Requiring More Hardware Consumer TVs do not come with MPEG-4 built-in which means receiving HD signals could be costly as satellite providers require more hardware in each guestroom and/or at hotel’s head-end. Lack of security and control over the in-room TV Consumer TVs lack the ability to lock-out guests from altering the TV settings. All Samsung commercial TVs come with lockout controls and volume limiters to prevent guests from causing any disruptions to your day-to-day business.

Guest expectations regarding in-room entertainment options are going through the roof. The question is, how do you offer Casting in your guest rooms in an economical and reliable manner, all while making it ultra-easy for your guests to pair their devices to their TV in an easy and secure way? 19 Broadband Hospitality Employee Safety Devices, Technology Solutions Fiber, WiFi, PBX/Phones, CCTV, POTS, DIRECTV HOSPITALITY, ITV, Cast, Low Voltage Cabling (330) 629-8848 Help: (800) 440-7008 connect@bbhnow.com www.bbhnow.com Servicing U.S. and Canada Did you know that over 50 million USA consumers own a Google Chromecast© device, and that over 5,000 streaming mobile apps support Casting, including the mega-popular Netflix, YouTube/YouTube TV, Google Play, Disney +, HBO Max, Amazon prime video, hulu, and Sling apps, as well as streaming music apps like iHeartRadio, Pandora and Spotify? In addition, Chomecast enables your guests to mirror their laptop to their in-room TV via their Chrome browser. Put simply, Chromecast works with the apps that your guests love. Stand-alone casting from BBH, with Google Chromecast streaming technology, gives you the power to deliver the “at-home entertainment” experience that your guests expect. Easy to pair, BBH Cast ensures complete guest privacy, with dashboard monitoring and remote diagnostic support. Andthe best news is this: BBH Cast is available at a price that’s easy to bear. How does BBH Cast work? BBH installs a BBH Cast server and software on your hotel network, and a Google Chromecast with security tether is attached to each guest room TV. When guests turn on their TV they see a welcome screen, branded for your hotel, that promotes the casting option and shows a unique QR code used to pair their device to their TV. When paired, the TV is automatically changed to the correct input source. The guest opens any Cast-enabled app and starts to stream content – it is that simple! When the guest wants to watch regular TV channels they can exit casting or simply channel up or down…the BBH Cast software takes care of automatically returning the TV to the proper channel input source. Easy pairing, with no software downloads and no entering of credentials or passwords on your TV system, is essential to the simplicity of the BBH Cast solution, as studies have shown that guests do not prefer to enter information on hotel TV systems. BBH oders BBH Cast in two forms: as a stand-alone system, and also as part of BBH’s multi featured Bamboo ITV solution.
